Ann Schwidder, Laboratory Director

Ann Schwidder holds an Hon. BSc. In Human Physiology from the University of Western Ontario and an MSc. in Animal Science from the University of Guelph. She began her career in Reproductive Biology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hamilton Health Sciences Corp. in 1979 as a research technician investigating steroid receptors in uterine cancer.

In 1985 Ann was recruited to be one of the original gamete technologists (embryologist) for the IVF Program. Here she performed semen analyses, oocyte retrieval, insemination and embryo transfer and freezing techniques before leaving the program in 1996. Ann returned to the Ontario Veterinary College to do bovine IVF until the end of 2000 at which time she joined Dr. Daya and Haimant Bissessar at CAN-AM Cryo Services.
